WENDOVER SHIFT LEADER
CLOSING DATE: Sunday 6 July
Shifts: Permanent, full time (up to 40hrs per week), including one weekend day per week.
Start date: Mid August
Pay: Up to £12.50ph + tips
A Rumsey’s Shift Leader is a people-person who enjoys delivering excellent customer service with a big smile and leading a busy team.
Working up to a 40hr week, including one weekend day, the Shift Leader position is a practical, hands-on role, with the majority of time spent preparing our delicious food and drinks and serving customers. The role will work closely with the Chocolaterie Manager, other Shift Leaders and Production staff. Barista experience is essential. The days / hours can be flexible for the right candidate, though one weekend day is a must.
- The Shift Leader is responsible for leading that day’s shift to ensure everything runs smoothly for both customers and staff members.
- The Shift Leader will forward plan and delegate the roles and responsibilities for each staff member working that day.
- In this hands-on job the Shift Leader will lead by example to deliver all aspects of front of house work, including baking-off pastries and biscuits, cutting cakes, making speciality drinks such as our house hot chocolate and coffee, serving customers and washing up.
- The Shift Lead will work with the Production Team to ensure that chocolaterie looks attractive with the shelves are fully stocked and customers aware of the Rumsey’s chocolate products, including being confident to upsell.
- The candidate will be responsible for opening and closing the shop, cashing up, stock takes, and administrative jobs as required.
- The Shift Leader will support the Chocolaterie Manager in growing a positive and engaged team through ‘extras’ such as arranging birthday cards, giving shout-outs to team members, engaging in Rumsey’s charity events and helping to arrange social events.
- The Shift Leader will run trial shifts for potential staff members.
- The Shift Leader will work alongside the Chocolatierie Manager to train junior staff members.
- The right candidate will be friendly and supportive, encouraging their team to develop new skills and progress, and will be there to support staff members during any challenges they face at work.
- The shift leader will be a calming influence, able to lead the team and be in control during busy periods.
- The Shift Leader will be confident in enforcing Rumsey’s rules and regulations, for example dress code.
- The candidate will escalate any concerns or problems encountered to the Chocolaterie Manager, Head of People or the owner.
- The role is responsible for ensuring that the chocolaterie is clean and tidy at all times, and that staff are adhering to the Rumsey’s Employee Handbook and Health and Safety rules.
REQUIREMENTS
- At least two years’ front of house experience.
- Desirable to have at least six months experience in a supervisory role.
- Experience of leading and motivating a team, including training.
- Passion for good food and drink.
- Commitment to excellent customer service.
- Barista experience.
- Ability to work quickly while remaining welcoming and friendly to customers.
- Confident communicator, able to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work a weekend day.
