WEEKDAY CHOCOLATE MAKING COURSE
No spare time at the weekend? Come along to a three hour chocolate making course on Tuesday 9th March! We start at 1.30pm and finish at 4.30pm. A truly relaxing and enjoyable afternoon!25th February 2010
CHOCOLATE TEMPERING COURSE
Due to the unpredictable weather in January, we have postponed our chocolate Tempering course till February 27th. We do have spaces for this date, and a description of the course is below. If you need any further information, I am always pleased to answer any queries you may have. We are also more than happy to recommend places to stay nearby, in case you'd like to make a relaxing and enjoyable weekend away!
CHOCOLATE TEMPERING DAY
This could be calledd a skill-honing day. If you need to practice the art of tempering chocolate, this is a great workshop for you. You will receive a warm welcome from Mary Rumsey, followed by a chance to recap on what tempering means. You then will spend most of the day working with chocolate! A delicious lunch is provided.

Our shops will be open over the festive season - Here's the information:
Wendover and Thame
Open until 4pm on Christmas Eve
Closed on Christmas Day and 26th December
Open Sunday 27th December - Thursday 31st December (We'll close at 4pm New Years' Eve)
Closed New Years' Day
THE COCOA POD offices will be closed from Christmas Eve until January 8th.

We would love to welcome you to our Chocolateries in Wendover or Thame. Thame has a late night shopping evening on Friday 4th December, when the Christmas lights will be switched on. Wendover's late night shopping is Friday 11th December, or why not see the Christmas lights being switched on? (Tuesday 1st December). Hallowe'en Chocolates
Our Hallowe'en Chocolates have been so popular, we have been unable to make them available for online shopping. There has to be an advantage somewhere - Oh, yes - you can come to visit us in Wendover or Thame! Also no disappointments with not receiving them through the post! CHOCOLATE TEMPERING

Good News!

I would just like to say once again how much I enjoyed the chocolate course yesterday, the day was full of great information and has certainly given me an appetite for so much more. I gained a real sense of delight and enthusiasm, something that I have not experienced for such a long time,it has renewed my joy for life in general. I also felt incredibly relaxed after spending time with you and Nigel in the kitchen, giving me a sense of achievement.

School of Chocolate - Extra Course in August
Due to popular demand we have arranged for an extra three hour chocolate making course on the afternoon of the 22nd August - just time to enjoy before the lazy summer days come to an end! The course begins at 1.30pm and many of our past participants have enjoyed a lunch locally before making their way to The Cocoa Pod. Hallowe'en Chocolates
This week our chocolatiers have been very busy making the most incredible chocolates for Hallowe'en. The lollipops are really fun - pumpkin shaped with detailed faces. We also have chocolate skulls, large pumpkins (with goodies inside), small caraque chocolate shapes and the ever popular Oswald Owl (all seeing and knowing!). Summer Days
Summer is the name of game at Rumseys in recent times.
Our ice cream production has been busy at 'The Cocoa Pod' making our latest summer flavours, with Strawberry, Mandarin and Raspberry Pavlova all making an appearance on our menu.
Despite our busy summer period keeping us on our toes, I can now reveal that preparation for Hallowe'en and Christmas is already in full swing. With Christmas our busiest time of year, we need to be more prepared than St. Nick himself, to ensure no one goes home disappointed come December.
Lastly our chocolate courses are sucessfully up and running with interest growing by the day. We have everything from Hen Parties to childrens birthdays going on, with lots more on the way.

School of Chocolate Open Day
We want to thank everybody who came along to our open day on 9th April. It was a huge success and we were very pleased to receive so much enthusiasm and positive feedback. Rumseys features in two editions of Oxfordshire Life
For local foodies and Rumsey's highly valued customers, there have been two recent features in Oxfordshire Life magazine. The first is in a feature telling a story behind the historic facades of Thame and includes a column called "A Place for Foodies" where Rumsey's Thame coffee shop is mentioned as a place where one can buy "a selection of the most delectable handmade confections...and indulge your sense of smell as well as your sense of taste". The second is a feature on 'Love' which incorporates the build up to valentines day and quotes Rumseys as a chocolatier of "innovation and distinction".

BBC Good Food Show London
We were delighted to attend the recent BBC Good Food Show at London Olympia where we sampled and sold our Christmas 2008 range and announced the opening of our new School of Chocolate - the Cocoa Pod. The show was very busy and full of people with lots of energy who were able to visit all the stands. We sampled our three special blends of chocolate - white, milk and dark - all of which were much enjoyed and appreciated. The chocolate snowmen were particularly popular as were the Christmas stars and the ginger fudge fingers.

Online Chocolates
The new Rumsey's website has created a lot of interest in buying chocolates online so the range is going to be extended over the next few weeks. Nigel's exquisite chocolates are fresh and delicious using artisan techniques to make them all by hand. The chocolate team are constantly innovating and producing new chocolate concepts to maintain a good level of variety for all their customers. Please let us know if you have any favourites that you would like to see.

Rumsey's exciting new project is going to be a paradise for chocolate lovers. The new concept is going to provide a Head Office for Rumsey's, production unit and practical demonstration kitchens. Please check the website for opening dates and courses on offer.

Cocoa beans
Rumsey's have their own unique and special blend of cocoa beans which they use to produce their range of chocolates. Current world markets have seen a huge increase in the cost of cocoa beans and this is carefully monitored by Mary Rumsey.
