Since 1991 Nigel Rumsey has been creating an exquisite range of hand-made chocolates. Starting from just a small catering unit at the back of his house, his aim, quite simply, has been to produce top quality products from the finest ingredients for the general public, retailers and wholesalers alike.
His thirty years experience as a chef and patissier have provided the inspiration and depth of knowledge needed to become a chocolatier of distinction. Nigel has travelled from London, to Paris and Geneva in order to perfect his skills and learn the secrets of the gourmet chocolate makers of Europe.
Entering the Great Taste Awards at London Olympia for the first time in 2002, Rumsey's was accredited with eight Fine Food awards including Gold for their Orange Cointreau Truffles.
Nigel and his wife, Mary, opened their first coffee shop in Wendover, Bucks on Valentine's Day 2004. Inspired by the film 'Chocolat', their aim was to provide a relaxing environment in which to sit, eat lunch, drink coffee and choose from the wonderful selection of truffles, ganaches, pralines, creams and petit fours, each with their own distinct flavour.
The success of this first shop led to the opening of a second chocolaterie in Thame, Oxon in July 2007.
Their latest exciting project is a new 'school' of chocolate, which will offer chocolate demonstrations and courses in the fine art of chocolate making.
